NEW! IBDP Scholarships for 2021/22. Now open for applications again!
St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia is offering International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) scholarships to deserving students entering Year 12 in August 2021. In line with our school values and traditions, the school is offering this unique scholarship to provide talented and capable students who wish to embark on the IBDP the opportunity to be a part of the school, to flourish under the guidance of its teachers, and to develop as Lasallian leaders. Our scholarships are awarded based on a combination of both merit and means-tested outcomes.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a 2-year educational programme primarily aimed at students aged 16-18. Success in the IBDP offers students the opportunity to gain access to the best universities in the world. From our first graduated cohort, 3 students obtained 44 out of 45 points with over 30% of them scoring 40 points and above. In terms of our scholars, 46% of them went on to receive scholarships from foreign universities. SJIIM had equally good IBDP results in 2019 and 2020, with the top students scoring 44 points while our school’s overall average IBDP points across the three cohorts thus far have been 36.8, amongst the highest in Malaysia.
Amongst the notable universities that our IBDP alumni have been accepted to are: the New York University Abu Dhabi, Imperial College London, University of Pennsylvania, University of British Columbia, Tsinghua University, London School of Economics, Yale-NUS, Nanyang Technological University and Osaka University.
We are now inviting suitably qualified students from different high school backgrounds including from the IGCSE, SPM and MYP, as well as other equivalent courses, to apply for our IBDP scholarships. SPM/IGCSE students who are taking their exams in November 2021 may also apply for our August 2021 scholarships, should they be able to provide evidence of strong academic performance which will give an indication that they will be able to do well in the IBDP.
Our merit-based and means-tested scholarships cover between 25% and 100% of the full IBDP tuition fees for 2 years. Applicants are expected to be able to provide evidence of good academic performance and demonstrate active participation and leadership in co-curricular activities (music/sports/art) and service activities. Boarding spaces may be available subject to approval from the Scholarship Board and the applicant providing evidence that it is required.
Applications close on 29 th January 2021. Full applications, including all relevant documents, are to be emailed to: scholarships@sji-international.edu.my
All successful applicants will be required to take part in a Lasallian Immersion programme during August 2021 as part of the scholarship programme. Flight costs will need to be borne by the student’s family while the cost of the trip will be subsidised by SJIIM based on the quantum of the scholarship received.
