Breda was born and grew up in Co. Limerick, Ireland. She graduated from Mary Immaculate College of Education in Limerick with a B.Ed. degree (hons) in education and history. She has taught at all levels of the primary school, and also worked in the special education field. Following a year of travel abroad, she engaged in further study completing an M.A. in Children’s Literature in St. Patrick’s College in Dublin. She is passionate about the value of exposing children to quality literature, thus imparting to them a love of reading. In her current school in Co. Kildare, she has held positions at middle and senior management, including the position of deputy principal. In her efforts to promote all aspects of the child’s development, she has been involved in many new initiatives like Active School, Green School and Healthy Eating programmes in her school. This is Breda’s first international post, and she is excited to be part of St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia. She is joined on this wonderful adventure by her husband and young son. In her new post as assistant principal she will be focussing on curriculum and literacy at SJIIM.
