David was born and educated in Birmingham, England. He then moved to Derby where he studied English and History at university. Following his graduation, David returned to Birmingham to complete his Post Graduate Certificate in Education, qualifying as a primary school teacher in 2013. He then completed a TEFL qualification and taught English as a foreign language at a school in Saraburi, Thailand.
Upon his return to England, David taught at outstanding schools in both Birmingham and South West London. He has taught in KS1 and KS2 with his most recent position being a class teacher in Year Two. David was a Phase Leader for Lower KS2 and is part of the wider senior leadership team. He was also the mathematics co-ordinator and was responsible for implementing a new style of teaching across the school based on ‘Mathematics Mastery’.
David is passionate about education and strongly believes that lessons should be creative and meaningful experiences that children can relate to the world around them. He works hard to create an inclusive classroom where children feel safe, secure and strive to do their best.
In his spare time, David enjoys watching and playing sports such as Rugby and Football. He is an avid supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and is looking forward to their return to the Premier League this season. David enjoys travelling, experiencing new cultures and is looking forward to embracing life in Kuala Lumpur.
David is delighted to be joining SJIIM and is very much looking forward to becoming part of the school community.
