Ed was born and raised in Cambridge, England. After graduating from Newcastle University he spent some time travelling and working overseas, in Zanzibar and on a farm in South Africa. This fostered his love for both education and travel. He studied for his PGCE at Bath University, and then worked for three years in a school in rural Dorset where he taught a range of age groups and subjects. He also served as the Head of Department for Humanities.
His first overseas posting was at Kinabalu International School, in Malaysian Borneo. There he was the Year 6 class teacher, but also taught English, Humanities and Science in the senior school. After four years there, he moved to the other side of the world to take up a position at the leading international school in South America, St Paul’s, in São Paulo, Brazil. During his time there he was a class teacher for both Year 5 and 6, and served as Head of Year for Year 5 for two years. He also met his wife Juliana there, and they have just spent a year travelling the world!
Ed is passionate about education, and creates an inclusive atmosphere in his classroom that helps his pupils to develop a genuine, lifelong love of learning. He is also a firm believer in the importance of the whole school community in supporting our pupils.
During his free time Ed enjoys exploring new places, hiking and playing sport – particularly Ultimate Frisbee! He is excited about the prospect of living in Malaysia again, and the opportunity to introduce Juliana to the incredible food here.
