Jade Levison

Jade Levison Position: Nursery Team

Jade was born in Edgware, North London, and was a keen musician and competitive swimmer from a young age. She tutored children aged 4 – 16 throughout her late teens, which led her to study Primary Education, specialising in Early Childhood Education, at the University of Roehampton, London. From here, Jade went on to become a Reception and Nursery teacher for 2 years at an outstanding school in Burnt Oak, North London. Throughout these years, Jade developed an interest in special needs and early intervention. She worked closely with the SENCO and Early Years Coordinator to put strategies in place to ensure all children could access the resources they needed to reach their absolute potential. She also worked to put strategies in place that guaranteed transitions from early years to primary were as smooth and natural as possible for the children.

Following her passion for special needs education, Jade then moved on to become a class teacher in a two-time outstanding special needs school in Harrow, London. Here she developed her understanding of different types of communication and the rewards and independence that effective communication can bring a child, as well as the how vital the community is in promoting holistic learning.
Jade believes that, first and foremost, children need to feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment and strives to create this in her classroom. She feels that independence and development of life skills are key parts of learning and integrates these at the forefront of her practice.

In her spare time, Jade loves spending time with her friends and family. With a keen interest in natural healthcare and fitness, she likes to go to the gym, play squash and still enjoys swimming, although not competitively anymore! Jade has also developed a recent passion for crafts, including knitting and crocheting, alongside starting to experiment with sewing.

Jade is excited to have been given the opportunity to further her teaching career at SJIIM and is looking forward to developing personally and professionally.
