John joined the team as a trainee under the Economics Department. He is an alumnus at St. Joseph’s Institution International Singapore (SJIIS) where he was a scholarship recipient for their pioneer IB batch. Having been inspired by his teachers, John joined SJIIM since its inception and has been working as the Student and Hostel Services Manager to oversee the wellbeing of 25 students staying in the hostel. He has also been busy inviting alumni from SJIIS, parents, and university representatives to share their experience and knowledge with the current IB cohort. Being a Dean’s Higher Achiever in Economics and a scholarship recipient at the University of Queensland in Australia, John aspires to teach Economics at the school and has been studying his PGCE at The University of Nottingham in the UK. He firmly believes that learning must go beyond theory and seeks to find unique ways to make his classes more interesting. He also studied at The University of California Los Angeles in America as an exchange student under a Study Abroad Scholarship back in 2013 and hopes that all these experiences will help in his teaching. Besides the academic side of things, John enjoys coaching the volleyball team at SJIIM and participating in service related projects. He is looking forward to venturing into a new path of his career with the school.
