Maureen joined the school from Dhirubhai Ambani International School in India, where she was the Assistant IB Coordinator and Head of English. Maureen is an experienced teacher of both IB and IGCSE English, with over 19 years in the profession. She led the development of the English curriculum for IB authorisation in two of her previous schools. Her previous schools include New Cairo British International School in Cairo, as well as two high performing state schools in England. She is an examiner for both IB English Language and Literature and English Literature. Maureen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and American Literature from the University of California, San Diego and a Master of Arts degree in Women and Writing from the University of East Anglia in England, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from The Open University in England. She is currently working towards a further M.A. in Educational Leadership from the University of Bath. She believes passionately in the imperative for holistic education for young people, so that students learn academically in the context of developing personally. This includes the importance of communication and interpersonal skills, caring for themselves and others and developing critical thinking skills. Her interests outside of education include reading, yoga and hiking.
