Rachael was born and grew up in Newcastle in a beautiful town by the sea. She studied at Northumbria University graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Primary Education and qualified as a teacher in 2010. She began her career in a Primary School in North West London where she taught for 5 years. During this time, she taught Reception and Year 2, leading the year group and fulfilling the role as a Maths Coordinator. She loved teaching and living in London and gained invaluable experience before deciding to move overseas. She has been living and working in Malaysia at another international school for almost two years where she was leading the Early Years Foundation Stage team.
As an educator she believes in the role of the teacher as a facilitator of learning where children are encouraged to think critically and become independent learners. She encourages children to develop a growth mind-set, creating a desire to learn and embrace new challenges. Rachael strives to be a lifelong learner and is currently working on learning a second language. In her free time, you will find her travelling and exploring new places around the world, reading and cooking. She is excited to be a part of the SJIIM community.
