The Cambridge International A Level at St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia (SJIIS) is an internationally recognised qualification that provides a gateway to top universities worldwide. Whether students aspire to study in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore or China, the academic depth and rigour of the A Level offers a strong foundation for success.
Over 850 universities in the US alone, including Ivy League institutions such as Harvard and Yale, accept Cambridge A Level qualifications. Likewise, top UK universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, highly regard A Level as a benchmark for academic excellence. This globally respected programme develops in-depth subject knowledge, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for university education.
Supported by our University and Careers Counselling Programme, SJIIS students who sit for A Level examinations continue our tradition of securing placements at prestigious global institutions.
At SJIIS, Sixth Form goes beyond academics. It’s about developing well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of university. We offer a dynamic learning environment that fosters leadership, resilience and global awareness, while staying rooted in Lasallian values.
Students benefit from enrichment opportunities that enhance their academic journey, including:
Embodying Lasallian values through meaningful community projects that create a lasting impact.
Hands-on experience in various industries, helping students make informed career choices.
Specialised classes to refine research and writing skills essential for university applications and academic success.
Opportunities to join and lead interest-based clubs such as the Medical Society and Law Society.
A prestigious programme that fosters personal growth, resilience, and leadership through experiential learning.
Our A Level programme blends academic excellence with character development, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also develop essential life skills.
The A Level qualification is widely accepted by top universities worldwide, including prestigious institutions such as Cambridge, Oxford and Ivy League universities.
Our rigorous curriculum challenges students to think critically, develop research skills and achieve subject mastery.
Rooted in strong moral values, our education emphasises character development, service and leadership, with students recognised through the SJIIS Lasallian Scholar Award.
With expert guidance for university applications, career placements and internships, our students receive the support they need to achieve their aspirations.
Students choose three or four subjects from a wide range of options, allowing them to either specialise in a particular area or pursue a broad academic pathway.
Students can also opt for the Cambridge International Project Qualification (IPQ), a 5,000-word research project that enhances inquiry, independent study and analytical skills. This highly valued qualification strengthens university applications, particularly for research-intensive disciplines.
Lasallian Core (LEdu) is not a subject but is a non-examinable enrichment programme for all Sixth Form students, with weekly sessions led by the Lasallian Brothers. It includes hands-on activities, group work, and reflection, and is a key part of your learning journey at SJIIS. No entry requirements are needed.
At SJIIS, we take immense pride in our students, who continue to achieve top academic honours at both national and global levels.
Klarissa Lee’s exceptional talent in Art & Design was recognised on a global stage when she achieved the highest score in the world for her Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design examination. This remarkable achievement is a testament to her creativity, perseverance, and dedication.
“I’m incredibly overwhelmed and am honestly still in disbelief. This award is both an honour and a deeply personal milestone. To be recognised for my art validates the hundreds of hours of dedication I put into it — from the years of prior practice and study to brainstorming initial concepts, and finally, bringing them to life through various mediums. Though by the end I truly felt the burnout, I wouldn’t trade back that journey for the world. IGCSE art challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with ideas and materials I never would have thought of otherwise. It not only made me a better artist but a tougher person — because if I can get through IGCSE art, I can get through anything.”
Congratulations to our outstanding students from the Class of 2024, who achieved the top scores in Malaysia for their Cambridge IGCSE examinations in their respective subjects. We couldn’t be more proud of them!
“Regarding Coordinated Science, I’m just thankful that my millions of flashcards and self-made worksheets pulled through!
I could not have achieved any of this if it weren’t for the constant love and support of my parents, the comfort and reassurance of my friends, and the encouragement of my art and coordinated science teachers, Ms Florence, Ms Parker, Ms Aileen, Mr Madhi, and Mr King. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for everything they’ve done for me, as without these people, even the sheer possibility of this achievement would have felt a universe away.”
“I was pleased to hear the news of my results; I am particularly passionate about English and History and hope to continue these studies at university. I am so grateful for the support of my teachers in developing these passions both in my school work and co-curricular opportunities.”
“Maths once felt like banging my head against a wall, but I’ve realised that, even starting from rock bottom, every mountain is climbable with grit and determination. My deepest thanks go to my incredible teachers, supportive parents and friends, and the engaging school environment that helped me on my climb!”
