International Student Application

SJIIS welcomes all international school students from around the world and has an international community of students from 28 different countries around the world with different religious beliefs and cultural practices.

International students are required to submit a copy of their passport inner cover page when they put in an application for the school. All passports submitted should have a validity of at least THREE years and above.

International students studying at St Joseph’s Institution International School will need a Dependant or an International Student Pass from the Immigration Department of Malaysia. The following information will guide interested international families through the necessary steps to obtain the approvals needed to enrol their child in the school.

Student Visa & Pass Processing Service Reimbursement Charge

A Student Visa & Pass Processing Service Reimbursement Charge of RM2100 is payable upon acceptance of placement offer for international students who would require a student visa and pass to study with St Joseph’s Institution International School .

The reimbursement charge covers the service and processing costs needed for the application of the international student’s endorsement, visa and pass with the Malaysian Ministry of Education and Immigration Department of Malaysia. It includes the initial first student pass application and the first renewal of the same pass on the same passport.

As of January 2019, the Immigration Department of Malaysia has implemented the following additional clauses pertaining to new student pass and renewal applications:

1) All new student pass applications are to be accompanied by a personal bond guarantee.
2) All new student pass and renewal applications are subject to the applicants being covered by an existing or new health insurance.

The additional clauses above as per the latest rulings from the Immigration Department of Malaysia. Details on this along with possible associated costs involved can be obtained through our Admissions Department.

All international student visa and pass applications can only be processed if they are accompanied by:

All necessary required documents listed in the International Student Application checklist form together with any other document(s) required by the Admissions Office & International Student Office of St Joseph’s Institution International School.

The payment of the above reimbursement charge can be made via cheque payable to Ever Radiant Sdn Bhd or after receipt of a bank transfer done via:

Beneficiary Name: Ever Radiant Sdn Bhd

Name of Bank: OCBC Bank Berhad

Address: 89, 91 & 93, Jalan SS 21/60, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Bank’s Swift Code: OCBCMYKL

Current MYR A/C: 7071281859

IMPORTANT: Please indicate the name of your child in the telegraphic transfer.

The international student visa & pass application service reimbursement charge is non-refundable.

The reimbursement charge is applied only once for each successful applicant. The reimbursement charge is applicable and payable at the same rate should the first application be rejected for whatever reason(s) and a second application is requested by the informed parent.

A reimbursement charge for the renewal of the student’s visa & pass on expiry is charged at RM800.00 – RM1050.00 (if needed) and is non-refundable if the application is rejected for whatever reasons.

Students who will have or already have a Dependant Pass

Children with Dependant Passes on their passports will not require an International Student Pass. These are typically the dependant children of expatriate parents working in Malaysia.

Students who will have or already have a MM2H Programme Pass

Children who are riding on their parents MM2H Programme Passes on their passports will not require an International Student Pass. These are typically the dependant children of international families under the Malaysia My 2nd Home Programme.

Students who will have or already have a Malaysia PR Status under the Malaysia Returning Expat Programme

Children who have PR Status stamps on their passports will not require an International Student Pass. These are typically the dependant children of Malaysian born parents who are back in Malaysia under the Malaysia Returning Expat Programme.

Students without Dependant, MM2H Passes & PR Status (usually those not residing in Malaysia)

Students without a dependant pass are required to apply for an international student visa and pass. For students under this category, SJIIS will be providing the required assistance needed for the student’s international student visa and pass application. This will be covered under a separate service reimbursement charge and our admissions officer will be contacting you soon for the additional documents required for the application.

Note: The information and clauses above are accurate as per current Malaysian Immigration rulings.

Parents, please refer to the checklist link at the bottom for information on documents needed for submission to the school.

Important notice:
A provisional Letter of Acceptance from SJIIS will only be issued after the student has successfully completed SJIIS’s compulsory entry assessment test and once the Application Fees have been paid in full.

The application process for the student pass will require 2 to 4 weeks and parents will be notified once it has been approved. Multiple entry student passes will have a one year validity. Students with passport validity of less than one year will only be given a 6 months student pass. We strongly recommend all parents ensure that their child’s passport has at least a validity period of three years and above. For faster processing, please submit the required documents during the application stage of the student.

Applicants are required to submit a copy of their passport inner cover page together with their application form. If the applicant is currently studying at another international school in Malaysia, a copy of the passport page with the current student pass is also required. Applicants must also cancel their current student pass with their former school before they can apply for a new one. Student passes from a previous international school in Malaysia are NOT transferrable. Failure to comply with this ruling will affect the student’s stay in Malaysia.

Students with MM2H dependant passes or PR status must also declare this with the Admissions Office during the application process.

Parents may contact us for further information and advice on this matter.
