Keeping Our Children Safe: Building a Culture of Safeguarding at SJIIS

Safeguarding is at the heart of life at St. Joseph’s Institution International School (SJIIS). As Whole School Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Jasmine Sabharwal continues to prioritise the safety, wellbeing and protection of every child, both online and offline.

Throughout the academic year, we have strengthened and reviewed our safeguarding systems, policies and practices across the school. This includes regular staff training, student education, parent workshops, safer recruitment in partnership with HR, visitor management, health and safety, and robust procedures for keeping students safe on and off campus.

Our students are learning how to recognise risks, make safe choices, protect themselves and support their friends. From online safety, social media and digital behaviour in High School to age-appropriate PSHE and Computing in Elementary School, safeguarding education is embedded throughout our curriculum.

We are also committed to ensuring that safeguarding is not simply a set of policies and procedures, but a culture shared by our whole school community. Everyone has a role to play in recognising concerns, responding appropriately and creating an environment where children feel safe, supported and valued.

Our practice is strengthened through collaboration with safeguarding professionals and wider networks, including the FOBISIA Executive Safeguarding Committee, helping us share expertise and maintain high standards of safeguarding practice.

As we continue to review our provision and prepare for external inspection, our commitment remains clear: every student should feel safe, supported, valued and empowered to make positive choices.
